The program provides a user-friendly visual interface with the use of a definite color code. The documents are displayed side-by-side to allow users to easily spot the differences. The Standard Edition of the application consists of two comparison window panels, menu bar and advanced features toolbar. The Professional Edition allows three-way comparison to differentiate two documents to a single source simultaneously. The correlated elements on the text documents are linked through the use of connecting lines. The features of the AraxisMerge utility is highly usable in comparing and merging documents with hard to distinguish formats such as source codes from web page, C++ and Java files. It is also usable for differentiating binary files, images and text files containing native sets of code. The AraxisMerge software can also be used to compare, arrange and synchronize file folders. An entire directory tree containing thousand files can be easily organized and categorized using the utility.
The AraxisMerge application also supports code reviewing and auditing. Its point-and-click system allows the user to conveniently choose the sections of the file to be modified. It also facilitates faster method of merging different parts from multiple source documents. The software allows an editor to completely take control of the document editing with its unlimited undo feature. The user is also provided with powerful navigation controls such as enabled bookmarks on the compared texts, marking of resolved text lines and indention of lines within the document. The comparison of the files are updated and displayed while the documents are modified. The statistics of the documents can be copied to the clipboard, printed or saved to a record file. The entire status report can be exported to a project comparison file (*.comparison) for future reference. The reports can be generated in XML, HTML slideshow, HTML or UNIX diff format. The report folder can be preconfigured to show all or some of the comparison reports of the files involved.
The software was developed for Windows and Mac OS X operating systems by Araxis Ltd. The AraxisMerge program’s user interface has been translated to different languages around the world. Commercial releases of the program include translation to German, French, Japanese, International Spanish and both traditional and simplified Chinese languages.
